On Monday morning April 19 at 0741 hrs., Nancy Run firefighters were dispatched to an automatic fire alarm at PolyOne Corporation on Highland Avenue. Chief 1451 arrived with nothing showing from side "A". Additional information provided by workers from PolyOne indicated an active fire in a dust collecting machine on side "C". Chief 1451 assumed command on side "C" and confirmed a working fire. A full first alarm assignment was requested. Engine 1411 arrived first due and stretched one 1 ¾" line to control the fire. As additional companies arrived, crews were sent in the building to check for any fire extension with none found, however the entire building was charged with a moderate smoke condition. It was confirmed early on in the incident that all occupants had been safely evacuated from the building. Once the fire was placed under control companies remained on the scene for extensive overhaul and ventilation operations.
