March 24, 2021

Over the past few months, the Nancy Run Fire Company placed 3 new pieces of apparatus in service.
Rescue Engine 1413 is a 2020 Seagrave Marauder Rescue Engine. This engine has a 500 gallon water tank and a standard complement of engine company equipment. In addition, she also carries auto extrication equipment, rope rescue equipment, water rescue equipment, and Hazardous Material mitigation equipment. This engine was designed to supplement the heavy rescue at our sister company and to adequately carry and store equipment that we already owned and utilize. This apparatus will respond to motor vehicle accidents, rescue assignments, and hazardous material calls.

Utility 1441 Is a 2020 Ford F550 with a Reading body. This truck was designed and built by Versa-lift equipment company here in Bethlehem Township. This vehicle responds to EMS assist calls, non-emergent service calls such as pump outs, and traffic control calls.

Command 1445 is a 2020 Ford Police Interceptor Utility that was customized and upfitted 10-8 Emergency Vehicle service in New Holland, PA. This vehicle is assigned to the Fire Chief. He utilizes this vehicle to quickly respond to the scene of emergencies so that an assessment of needed resources can be completed.
RE1413 and Utility 1441 replaced 20 year old apparatus and were made possible by the Citizens and The Board of Commisioners of Bethlehem Township. The Township's commitment to ensuring the safety of the residents and visitors of Bethlehem Township is reflected in their unwavering support of the Fire Companies.
Command 1445 was made possible with a generous gift from the estate of Mr. Bruce VanNess. Bruce was a dedicated member of the Fire Company who unfortunately passed away in 2018.

The truck committee spent months and months researching current trends and practices for fire apparatus and the safety they can provide the firefighters who ride them. The committee(s) consisted of Past Chief Michael Lenner, Past Chief Joel Steier, Past Chief Joe Soska, Assistant Chief Adam McElroy, Lt. Andrew Kopczynskie, Life Member Tony Ortwein, and Life Member Zack Austin.
These pieces of apparatus will proudly serve Bethlehem Township and the surrounding areas for a minimum of 20 years.

I am proud of the way that these apparatus were designed and proud of the men and women who will ride them. We will plan a dedication ceremony when COVID protocol allows.

Nolan M. Rampulla
Fire Chief
