Nancy Run Fire Company has helped the relief effort in Breezy Point, NY by assiting the home owners and fire department in the area. Our fire company has made two trips to this devastated area. The first trip consisted of what they refer to as "pump and gut." The goal was to get the homes stripped down to start the rebuild process. On this trip, Special Opperations Unit 1442 supplied power to support the use of power tools. We also dropped off donations to the donation center. On the second trip, Nancy Run supplied Engine 1412 and four firefighters; Tom Kocsis, Mason Rampulla, Jared Rampulla and Josh Sigley. The men stood by, protecting the town, so the members of Rockaway Point Fire Company could have the weekend "off." While in Rockaway Point we went out on two runs, a car off the road and an odor of gas. We also assited by mapping and flushing fire hydrants for the department. We helped one of their firefighters by digging in the rubble of his home looking for valuables and personal belongings that were lost when it burned to the ground during the fire that detroyed over a hundred homes. The Rockaway Point Fire Company along with the FDNY greatly appreciated our help and wished that we would come back and visit soon.
