Fire stations 14 and 17 along with EMS 17 were dispatched shortly after 7:00pm on Wednesday evening to AmeriCold Logistics, a Kraft Foods warehouse at 2600 Brodhead Road . Chief 14-51 was first responding unit on radio reporting smoke visible from Oakland Road. Engines 14-11 and 17-12 were also on the road within a few minutes. Chief 14-51 arrived on scene on the C side of the building to find a well-involved tractor and trailer that had extended into trailers on both sides and the building. Command requested a 1st alarm response as well as the 2nd and 3rd alarm Ladders. Engine 14-11 was first on scene and was instructed to lay 5" from one hydrant at the A/D corner and make a interior attack. Engine 17-12 arrived shortly after and tied in to another hydrant just east of the fire and went to work with the deck gun and multiple handlines on the exterior. Tower Laddders 14-21 and 15-21 made access to the roof on the C side for ventilation operations along with Ladder 27-21 which accessed the roof from the B side. The Engine crews made a quick knock down on the fire load both inside and outside the building. A 2nd alarm was struck to add manpower for the extended overhaul operation and to relieve the exhausted crews from the first arriving units. Great team work by all departments involved helped make this a successful operation.
