December 10, 2010
Squad 1412 along with Resuce 1741 were dispatched in the early morning hours of the coldest day of the year for a motor vehicle accident with entrapment. 1451 (Chief Hauze) arrived on scene and discovered a sedan that had been traveling south in the northbound lanes collided head on with a box truck. The driver of the box truck was able to extricate himself, however firefighters had to remove the roof and driver side of the sedan to extricate that driver. Extrication took approximately 24 minutes. Both drivers were transported to local hospitals and crews remained on scene until both vehicles were removed from the highway.
