| Bethlehem Township fire coompanies were wrapping-up a night of Special Vvehicle Rescue classroom training when the alarm was struck for a high occupancy structure fire in the 3200 block of Keystone Street. Companies were on the road within a minute. Police on scene reported smoke showing. 1451 (Chief Hauze) arrived on scene to find a three story multiple occupancy dwelling with smoke and fire showing from the 3rd floor. Engine 1712 stretched a line and went to work on the 3rd division while the crew from 1741 took on truck company duties searching the structure for occupants. Engine 1412 grabbed a hydrant and brought water to 1712. After 1412 established a water supply, the crew laddered all divisions and accessible sides of the structure for egress. The fire was found in a room near the B-C corner of the structure on the 3rd division. Truck 2721 took the C-D side of the structure, sending a crew to the roof to open up. Searches proved negative. The engine company made quick work of the fire that was beginning to run the length of the 3rd division. Crews performed extensive overhaul, holding the fire to the building of origin. Companies were clear within 2 hours. |
