| In the early morning of April 2nd, Bethlehem Township fire and EMS units were alerted to the 3900 block of Hecktown road for a reported basement fire. With police arriving on scene confirming a working fire, 1451 (Chief Hauze) requested the first alarm box be filled which brought in units from Lower Nazareth Township, Hanover Township, West Easton, Palmer Township, Freemansburg and Steel City. Engine 1412 arrived first due, stretching two 1 3/4" lines and tagging the hydrant. Engine 1712 followed close behind and utilized the second line to make entry through the rear basement door. Crews had the blaze under control after a hour and a half. One person was transported to a local hospital for smoke inhalation, as well as one firefighter, for treatment of a minor ankle injury. The fire is currently under investigation by the Bethlehem Township Fire Marshall's Office. |
