A Lower Saucon barn caught fire Monday night, destroying several antique pieces of farm equipment. Steel City (Station 63) and Freemansburg (Station 12) were alerted to a barn fire around 8:20p.m. Chief 6351 arrived on scene to find a 150' x 50' barn fully involved. The Chief assumed command and immediately requested the first 5 tankers and full response from Bethlehem Township (station 17) and Nancy Run (Station 14) for Rapid Intervention. Engine 1212 was the first unit to arrive on scene and attempted a extinguish, however the barn was too well involved. Once several other units arrived and water supply was established, crews set up several ground monitors. The fire was placed under control by command around 10:40p.m. and the remaining crews on scene overhauled.
