Bethlehem Township companies were sent to Bowler Court in the township for smoke from a roof. While units were responding, communications put out an updated address on Amherst Court with a working attic fire. Truck 1421 was the first apparatus on the and added a RIT assignment with reports a possible working fire. With additional word confirming a working fire and day time staffing levels, a 1st alarm was then struck by Chief 1453. Truck 1421 was the first arriving piece, finding smoke from the gable vents on two story townhome. Truck 1421 established a water supply and stretched the first 1 3/4" hand line into the 2nd floor, accessing the fire through the drop down attic stairs opening. While crews were stretching, heavy fire broke through the roof. The fire was quickly knocked down. Ceilings were pulled and lines were stretched to the attached homes confirming the fire was stopped. The incident was under control in about 20 minutes.
