As Bethlehem Township units were clearing a reported dwelling fire in the township, Northampton County Communications advised units of another call coming in for their district. County then dispatched crews to Freemansburg Avenue in the area of Southmont Way for a motor vehicle accident with entrapment. 1412 and 1741 responded immediately from the scene of the dwelling fire. First arriving Chief 1751 confirmed the dispatch reporting two vehicles with two injuries and one patient trapped under the dashboard. 1751 established command.

1412 arrived with 1741 and immediately went to work. Crews from the engine company pulled an 1 3/4" hand line for fire protection, began stabilizing the vehicle and mitigated the hazards. EMS tended to the driver of the vehicle who had minor injuries and who was not trapped while crews from the engine and rescue began removing the passenger side of the vehicle as well as the vehicle's roof. Extrication of the passenger was completed within 20 minutes. When all was said and done, the vehicle's roof, passenger side doors and passenger seat were removed in order to free the patient. Both patients were taken to local trauma centers with non-life threatening injuries. Companies were made available and returned to quarters.
