Members of Engine 1411 were returning from their 5th call of the afternoon when they were alerted to a motor vehicle accident with entrapment in Palmer Township. On the assignment was Rescue/Engine 2713, Engine 1411 and Rescue/Engine 2312. Engine 1411 went responding with six men within a minute of being dispatched. While en route, County advised 1411 that a vehicle had rear-ended a school bus, leaving the driver of the vehicle pinned under the bus.

Captain 2754 arrived on the scene, established 27 command and confirmed the dispatch of one vehicle under a school bus with one female trapped. 27 Command advised responding units that they would be going to work removing the driver side doors and the vehicle's roof.

Engine 1411 was the first arriving apparatus and immediately went to work upon arrival. Members of the engine company stabilized the vehicle, pulled an 1 3/4" hand line for fire protection and mitigated hazards. Once the vehicle was stabilized and the hazards were controlled crews from the engine company as well as crews from the rescue/engine companies began removing the driver side doors and the roof of the vehicle while EMS tended to the patient. The victim was removed within 20 minutes of the first arriving unit arriving on scene. 1411 assisted with clean-up and was made available by 27 Command.

Other calls the engine company responded on this afternoon were a 1st Alarm Commercial Structure fire with reported smoke in the basement of a religious retreat house, a landing zone set-up and numerous accidents on Nazareth Pike as well as a vehicle into a dwelling on 2nd Street. Crews ended the busy streak with an enjoyable home-cooked meal.

Units: Engine 1411, Rescue/Engine 2312, Rescue/Engine 2713, Commissioner 2751, Assistant Chief 2752, Captain 2754, Captain 2755
